Quality Enhancement Initiative (QEI)

The National Institute for Innovative Leadership, Inc., was awarded a four year grant funded through the United Way of Miami-Dade by the Bank of America Foundation/United Way Success By 6 to assist 80 early care and education programs increase quality and ultimately prepare for accreditation by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). QEI provided for early care and education programs serving at-risk families and subsidized child care services that included the following:

• Mentorship and leadership development of 80 early care and education directors.



• Staff training and development for over 350 teachers.



• Technical assistance for over 200 classrooms based on pre-and post-assessment



• Mini-grants for over 75 programs for classroom materials based on accreditation criteria and assessment ratings.



• NAEYC resource books and membership for over 70 programs.
